Managing the replacement of missing teeth in the maxillary anterior region can be challenging both functionally and esthetically. This CE presentation will review diagnostic and treatment planning strategies for the replacement of missing single teeth in the maxillary anterior region. Surgical and restorative considerations will be presented including conventional and immediate placement and provisionalization scenarios. These principles will be illustrated with clinical cases.

Objectives - At the conclusion of this course the participant should be able to:

1. Understand treatment planning considerations for single implant-supported prostheses in the anterior region

2. Learn about hard and soft tissue implant site preparation following extraction and at previously extracted sites

3. Understand surgical principles of anterior implant placement and restorative guidelines for successful provisional and definitive restorations

Presenting

Dr. Abou-Arraj is a 2003 graduate of the Saint Joseph University-School of Dentistry, Lebanon. He received two Periodontology Certificates (University of Alabama at Birmingham-UAB and Lebanese University) and M.S. degree from UAB. He is associate professor and clinic director in the UAB department of periodontology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. His clinical and research interests include periodontal regeneration, periodontal plastic surgery and dental implant site development.

 

Dr. Chin-Chuan Fu is an associate professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan in 1995, and the Certificate of Prosthodontics and Master of Science in Clinical Dentistry from UAB in 2007. She is a Diplomate of American Board of Prosthodontics, and currently the director of Pre-Doctoral Implant Program and didactic and clinical course director of D3 Fixed Prosthodontics.
