Dispensing and In-Office Sedation: Laws, Permits, and You

Self Instructional - Webinar

Details

Join Blake Strickland, State Investigator for the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama, to refresh your understanding of prescription drug dispensing and in-office sedations.

Proper prescription labeling, distribution, storage, and disposal of medication in the dental office is not only a critical part of your dental office safety plan, it's the law. Every attempt must be made to maintain accurate records regarding your patient's medications and the role your practice plays in distributing and storing medications safely.
Failure to comply with drug dispensing and labeling laws is a violation of the state dental practice act, which may result in legal and disciplinary actions. Fines from the federal government and DEA can be as much as $14,000 per pill if improperly logged and fined $14,000 again for dispensing that pill. Now is the time to evaluate your office protocol for drug management. This class is appropriate for the dentist and staff. Learn together and keep your office and your patients safe.

At the conclusion of the presentation, the licensees will have a working knowledge of all applicable state laws, state administrative codes (Board rules), and federal laws pertaining to the dispensing and administration of controlled substances.

Additionally, those licensees in attendance that may be considering applying for an OCS, PA, and/or GA permit from the Board will have a working knowledge of the requirements to obtain one/all of these permits, as well as what is required to maintain the permit(s).
