Abuse & Neglect Class -Online

This class is available on-line only.




Students who complete the course earn one hour (1) of training in procedures for reporting suspected abuse or neglect, including: 004.02C1 The Requirements of Nebraska Revised Statute 28-372 004.02C2 Residents' Rights as set forth in 175 NAC 8-003.02F and 175 12-003.02F as required for placement on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry.


Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss residents' and patients' rights.
  • Identify forms of adult abuse and neglect.
  • Determine strategies for prevention.
  • Relate when and how to report abuse in Nebraska.



Requirements for Successful Completion


  • The learner must listen to the entire course presentation for a minimum of 60 minutes (online participation is timed).
  • The learner must complete a 25 multiple-choice question test at the conclusion of the course presentation and score an 80% or better on the test.

Course Format

Course is available online (learner paced).


  • A link to the online course and a password will be emailed to the learner within one business day of registration and payment being processed.
  • The student must listen to a minimum of 60 minutes of the online course content. The student's participation time is recorded through the online course format.


  • At the conclusion of the course, the learner must complete a 25 multiple choice question post-test.


  • A score of 80% or better is required to pass. Learners are provided two (2) attempts to pass the post- test. If they do not pass after two (2) attempts they have failed the course. At that time, the learner may re-register and re-pay for another course session, if they desire. They must re-listen to the course and re-take the test.


  • The learner's score is sent to the Office of Professional Development. Upon receipt of test scores, the Office of Professional Development will validate time spent in the course. Within three (3) business days, a certificate of completion will be emailed to the learner if all requirements of successful completion have been met. The appropriate documentation will be faxed to the NE DHHS.


Class fees are non-refundable. Refunds are not provided if an individual cancels or does not complete the entire class or does not pass.

Technical Requirements


To access the on-line course an individual must have:

  • A computer with speakers or the ability to use headphones to hear audio
  • Internet access with an updated browser
  • The most current, updated version of Java

If an individual does not have access to a personal computer, they may register for an on-line session and complete the on-line course at the Clarkson College Office of Professional Development.
