Bring a laptop/tablet or device you can use to explore materials online.

How can social studies and history educators assess the critical reading demands found in the New Illinois Learning Standards? This workshop introduces educators to the 100+ primary source assessments available at and how to develop similar assessments and assessment systems that evaluate students’ acquisition of these skills. Teachers also get the opportunity to work with examples of student work samples that use free primary sources from the Library of Congress.
