This workshop is for teachers grades 9-12 MATH.
Teachers will have the opportunity to experience activities involving math and motion as well as acquire corresponding handouts to take back to their classroom.
1. Building and Using Robots
Engineering - adding/subtracting integers, collecting/graphing data, using a line to
2. Bungee Jumping with Ken
Elasticity - collecting data, recognizing patterns, writing the equation of a line,
3. Making Movement Visible with a Motion Detector
Velocity - slope, analyzing a graph, linear/piecewise/quadratic/exponential
Time will also be given for teachers to share and discuss their own ideas, activities, or lessons that engage students in mathematical connections related to science through motion. Teachers are encouraged to bring examples of their own lessons./activities (pictures or handouts) to share with other teachers during the discussion time.
