Working with Rubrics Workshop ROE 50

Friday, January 19, 2018 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
The registration period has closed for this event.

Participants in this workshop will learn about the various types of rubrics and how they can be used in the classroom as both a teaching tool and form of assessment. Examples will be given for how rubrics can be used by students to enhance learning and allow for better understanding of expectations. Time and assistance will also be given to create your own rubric for your specific grade level/subject, standard or classroom project.

Shonda Ronen currently teaches first grade for the Hillsboro community Unit School District and also serves as the president of the Hillsboro Unit Education Association. Ronen was the elementary team leader for the Illinois State Board of Education Task Force to Revise the Social Science Standards and presented the newly developed standards to ISBE for adoption. Since the adoption of the new standards, Ronen has been both providing professional development to ensure implementation in classrooms across the state, as well as implementing these standards in her own classroom. Recently, Ronen was selected as a Teach Plus Teaching Policy Fellow for Illinois. She graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BA in Education and earned a MEd in Teacher Leadership from Greenville college and a Type 75 Administator Certificate from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
