Math Common Core is asking for students to have a great deal of number sense and computational fluency. Come join us for classroom strategies you can use right away. This fast-paced training will include many Common Core strategies that are listed in the standards themselves and defined in various resources. We will explore teacher behaviors, student behaviors and math strategies that will allow for students to build their math number sense and be able to fluently explain their reasoning and problem-solving strategies. This workshop will show how the New Illinois Learning Standards for Math are truly different than how we have taught in the past. We will focus on the new ways to add, subtract, multiply and divide along with fraction sense. A variety of classroom videos, web-based resources and manipulatives will be shared. Differentiation ideas for all leveled learners will be shared throughout the day.
Lunch will be provided
