Workshop Overview

It is crucial that we recognize strong communication is one of our most valuable tools, regardless of our role in Dartmouth’s diverse workforce. This interactive workshop introduces that, at the core of our work, it is essential to operate from a place of professional respect, attitude, and behavior. Participants will have the opportunity to identify key aspects of practices that will enhance the quality of working relationships across campus.



Jennifer Cocklin

Jennifer is the Manager of Training and Development and manages a team who designs and delivers training and professional development experiences to Dartmouth’s workforce. Since joining the Office of Human Resources in 2003, she has worked with dozens of departments across the institution to bring customized training programs to intact teams. In her current role, she is a trained facilitator for Development Dimensions International (DDI), True Colors, and StrengthsQuest. She oversees DartSmart, an initiative for managers and supervisors; Dartmouth LEADS, leadership development program; and Administrative Professionals Planning committee, which brings new professional development and work-life programming opportunities to those in administrative roles across the institution. She coordinates New Employee Orientation, trains all campus I-9/E-Verify Representatives, and users of Dartmouth's Online Recruit and Review system. Jennifer has her SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) from the Society for Human Resources Management and her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute. Additionally, she has a certificate in Training from the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Her academic background includes a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Heidelberg College, in Tiffin, Ohio. Jennifer and her family live in Grantham, NH.

Jennifer Rataj

Jennifer Rataj is the Training Coordinator and Facilitator for the Training and Development team. Her current role includes overseeing logistics for all Training and Development, hosting New Employee Orientation, and facilitating workshops. She has worked at Dartmouth since 2012, and before joining Human Resources in 2014, she worked in the Advancement Business Office. Prior to Dartmouth, Jennifer was the Operations Manager/Training Supervisor for the West Lebanon, NH Borders Books and Music, where she oversaw the store operations and all onboarding/training for the forty-person staff. She also held the role of Sort Specialist and assisted in the opening of two new Borders locations on the East Coast, training the new employees on store operations and customer service. Jennifer has an A.S. in Liberal Arts from the Community College of Vermont and is currently earning her B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. She is a Development Dimensions International (DDI) certified facilitator and holds a training certificate from the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Jennifer resides in Lebanon, NH, and enjoys the outdoors, reading, cooking/baking, and exploring new places.
