This course offers an intensive 5 part series for educators to begin deepening their understanding and use of effective classroom assessments for both in-person and remote teaching. We will focus heavily on the formative assessment cycle and its role in supporting student agency in their learning. Participants will learn how to use classroom assessment not only to gather accurate information about student learning but to also improve student engagement, motivation and achievement and create classrooms and schools that are truly learning- and student-centered.

Module 1: Introduction & Welcome
Module 2: The Purpose of Assessment
Module 3: Clarifying Learning Targets
Module 4: Designing Quality Assessments
Module 5: Developing Learner Agency
Module 6: Communicating Student Learning

Participants are welcome to complete individual modules or the full course. Each module will include both a video lesson as well as accompanying work and should take 2-3 hours to complete. Participants are also invited to join LIVE discussions which are available throughout the summer to help process and support the application of their learning.

Teachers wishing to join the Assessment Literacy Network for the 2020-21 school year must complete the full course. Participants in the full course will be expected to complete all 6 modules and participate in at least one live discussion session.
