Are you looking for ways to make your classroom more student-driven? Join us for this three-part, self-paced series as we explore 'The 7 Strategies of Assessment for Learning' and discover how to use the formative assessment process to foster student learning and agency!
Self-Paced Series:
Session 1 (Released 9/30):
Helping students answer the question Where am I going?
Strategy 1: Providing a clear and understandable vision of the learning target.
Strategy 2: Using examples and models of strong and weak work.
Session 2 (Released 11/11):
Helping students answer the question Where am I now?
Strategy 3: Offering regular descriptive feedback.
Strategy 4: Teaching students to self-assess and set goals for next steps.
Session 3 (Release 12/9):
Helping students answer the question What is my next step?
Strategy 5: Using evidence of student learning needs to determine next steps in teaching.
Strategy 6: Designing focused instruction, followed by practice with feedback.
Strategy 7: Providing students opportunities to track, reflect on, and share their learning progress.
This series be entirely virtual and self-paced. Session materials will be released on Sep 30, Nov 11, Dec 9 but may be completed at any time throughout the 2021-22 school year. (Series end date: June 29, 2022) Participants may engage in individual sessions or select to engage in the full series. Those registered for the full series will receive a free copy of the book, 7 Strategies of Assessment for Learning, 2e (Jan Chappuis). SCECHs available pending approval.
