This is a course for international dentists who are considering applying to Advanced Placement Dental Programs in the United States and Canada. This is not a pre-requisite nor does it guarantee admission to any dental school.

The University of Louisville Office of Continuing Education (ULSD) offers a Bench Test Preparatory Course for International Dentists who are considering applying to Advanced Placement Dental Programs in the United States and Canada. This course is designed for those who wish to receive an introduction to the ideal restorative, endodontic, and fixed prosthodontic guidelines. A Periodontal Module will also be presented.
The 3-day course involves didactic and hands-on sessions presented by the University of Louisville School of Dentistry Faculty. Each discipline will present material with expected guidelines. Participants will have the opportunity to practice procedures under instructor supervision in the ULSD Simulation Clinic and receive feedback.
A portfolio of the participant’s involvement will be made available for their use.
All courses offered in English. Interpreters will not be provided.

Preparation and restoration of composites and amalgams on mannequin mounted dentoforms

Preparation of an ideal crown on an anterior dentoform tooth with fabrication of an acrylic provisional

Perform a maxillary anterior tooth access, instrumentation and obturation on mannequin mounted dentoforms

Complete a Periodontal Module Case Analysis in determining a periodontal diagnosis
PRE-REQUISITES (Must provide certified English translations of all documentation)
Clear, official, legible photocopies of your dental degree: BDS,DDS,DMD or equivalent, Certificate or Diploma
ABOUT THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND INSTRUCTORS:

Dr. Sasek earned her DMD degree from University of Louisville School of Dentistry and has been practicing in Louisville since 2005. Currently, most of her time is spent in clinical instruction at ULSD. She teaches pre-clinical dental anatomy and aesthetic dentistry. Dr. Sasek is a board member of the Kentucky Academy of General Dentistry and leads a student AGD Fellowship Track program at ULSD. Her professional interests lie in various voluntary dental services to the handicapped and under-privileged.
Dr. Katwal earned her BDS from the Manipal College of Dentistry, India 2002; MSD in Periodontics from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2012 and worked as an instructor and completed her DDS from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2012. She currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Periodontics Department at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.
Dr. McCants earned her DDS degree from Meharry Medical College and her MSD in Operative Dentistry from Indiana University School of Dentistry. At ULSD she lectures in restorative dentistry and dental materials and is the Course Director of Restorative Dentistry Review. In clinical instruction she specializes in operative competency evaluations given to students as they prepare for their licensure examinations. Her research work focuses on racial and ethnic oral health disparities and underrepresented groups and dental school admission and matriculation. Dr. McCants also serves as a faculty advisor for the Student National Dental Association. Dr. McCants maintains her private practice at the University of Louisville Dental Associates.
Dr. Morelli earned his DDS degree from Loyola School of Dentistry, Chicago, Illinois. He currently serves as Course Director ofJunior Clinical Endodnotics; Senior Clinical Endodontics; and Endontics II at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.
Dr. Zandinejad completed his dental training at Azad University in Tehran. He finished a residency program in operative dentistry at Tehran university and received his Master degree in restorative dentistry from Sheffield university in the United Kingdom. He completed his AEGD residency and prosthodontics program at the university of Rochester in NY/USA. He is a full time faculty at the department of oral health and rehabilitation and maintains a practice limited to Implants, Esthetic Dentistry and Prosthodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

We reserve the right to cancel, modify date, revise course content, revise program faculty and activities. Pre-registered participants will be notified if a course is revised or cancelled, as warranted. In the event a course is cancelled, tuition will be refunded. All registrations are subject to the ULSD Cancellation Policy. This is a 'limited' attendance course. ULSD must receive your written request for cancellation not later than four weeks prior to course start date to process a refund. A $75 processing fee will be deducted from the refund. Course Registrants who are a 'NO-SHOW' forfeit course tuition.
