FOCUS: Intentional Teaching with Application Trainings

Registering here simply allows us to capture the training verification data for the NM PED upon request. You will take your actual training through the Mr. Owl platform. Upon registering, you will receive a confirmation letter with instructions on how to access the training through the Mr. Owl platform.

Intentional Teaching is a FOCUS requirement for NM PreK, Title I, and Special Education teachers, EA's and long term substitutes. It must be completed within 2 months of hire. It is also a requirement for Instructional Coaches and Administrators. Administrators have the option to complete this training in the PED Online FOCUS Leadership Academy.

Your Application Trainings are scheduled for the following days and times from 8:00-12:00.

Application Training Day 1: October 30th
Application Training Day 2: November 13th

There are 2 self-paced modules which must be completed prior to your Application Trainings. You will have about 16 hours of content to complete with each modules being about 8 hours.

Module I: Powerful Interactions
Module II: Observational Assessment

Upon registering, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to order your books and complete the 2 online modules required prior to your Application Training days.


Deborah has over thirty years of experience in the field of education and has worn many hats; preschool teacher, Child Care Director, Special Education Teacher, 1st-grade teacher, Head Administrator for a Virtual Charter School and now an Early Childhood Instructional Coach. She finds it both rewarding and exciting to be on the front lines of the progress and strides New Mexico is making in Early Childhood Education.


Ginger Towle has over 30 years of experience in education. She has a Master’s Degree in Education from Lesley University and is endorsed in TESOL. Ginger worked as a preschool teacher, special education teacher, and an elementary teacher. She also worked as an instructional coach for two preschools in Eastern New Mexico.  Ginger has been an Early Childhood Instructional Coach the past three years and supports eight districts in Eastern and North Eastern New Mexico.
