Overview:
This course is offered to dental hygienists to update their knowledge of local anesthesia safety and efficacy. Indications of different formulations of local anesthetics will be reviewed, and safe doses will be recommended. Additional topics include armamentarium for local anesthesia, non-injectable agents for use with scaling and curettage, and indications for supplemental mandibular anesthesia through infiltration. The local anesthetic reversal agent OraVerseĀ®, and other innovative approaches, will be discussed.

This three-hour presentation is applicable for renewal of a dental hygienist's Local Anesthesia Permit in Pennsylvania.
