Course Description


Learn minimally invasive and non-invasive treatment for pediatric patients including interim therapeutic restoration, silver diamine fluoride, and Hall technique.  Indirect pulp therapy for deep caries in young permanent molars and pulp therapy for primary molars are discussed with treatment recommendations. Full coverage stainless steel crowns for primary molars, extraction of primary dentition and local anesthesia techniques are also presented. Included in this program is a review of the dental literature along with evidence-based methods to decrease chair time and heighten confidence when treating your pediatric patients.


After completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • discuss latest trends in non-invasive & minimally invasive treatment; 

  • identify and describe current treatment for management of deep caries in young permanent molars;

  • describe vital pulp therapy in primary molars with appropriate indications and medicaments and stainless steel crowns for primary molars;

  • ensure optimal clinical skills for administering local anesthesia and performing extractions for the pediatric patient

Dr. Soxman is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a Fellow in the American College of Dentists and on the board of advisors and a column contributor for the journal, General Dentistry. She is a seminar instructor for three General Practice Residencies and is currently editing The Handbook of Clinical Techniques in Pediatric Dentistry. Lectures incorporate over thirty-five years of private practice experience, including a review of the dental literature. A conversational style, fact-filled lectures and numerous publications have earned her recognition as a leader in continuing education.
