Please join HCET and WI DPH for the 5th annual STD Summit! The summit will offer a public health perspective on the latest in epidemiology, research, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections in our state and nation.

Pre-Summit Institutes

Institute 1: 'Building Resilience Amidst the Storm: Keeping Your Health, Balance and Sanity During Public Health STI Education and Advocacy' with Professor Keely Rees, PhD, MCHES, Department of Health Education and Health Promotion, UW-La Crosse, and Thomas Roberts, LCSW, Innerchange Counseling.

Institute 2: 'STI and HIV Prevention with Navajo Nation Department of Health' with Philene Herrera, Program Manager of the Navajo Nation Health Education Program, and Terra Yabeny, MPH, of Navajo Nation Public Health, New Mexico.

Attendees are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. To reserve a room at Chula Vista, please call 855-388-4782 and ask for the HCET (Health Care Education & Training) room block. The room block is reserved for the evening of Wednesday, October 25, and the room block rate is $109 (junior suite). The room block will be released on September 25, 2017.


Public health nurses, local health department staff, disease intervention specialists, STD clinicians, tribal health clinicians, adolescent health professionals, STD prevention advocates, and community leaders.

Nursing Contact Hours

A total of 9.0 nursing contact hours will be available for both days of this event. The pre-summit institute day (October 25) is eligible for up to 4.0 nursing contact hours. The main summit day (October 26) is eligible for up to 5.0 nursing contact hours.
