Masking is broadly defined as any effort to suppress our different traits, behaviors and actions in order to appear more like neurotypical peers. This presentation blends current research findings with the autistic speaker’s personal experience to explore what it means to mask and ways to identify masking as well as associated mental health outcomes that stem from blending in to pass as “normal.”
