2009 Nebraska Public Health Conference: Prevent, Promote, Protect – Working Toward a Healthier Nebraska

Attendees will be able to describe major trends & new directions in public health; identify how innovative wellness programs/policies can promote/improve the public’s health; identify major disparities in health outcomes among persons in Nebraska, the factors influencing those disparities & innovative strategies to reduce disparities; identify how new technologies can be used to improve health outcomes; develop new partnerships, strengthen existing ones, & develop networks to maximize resources.

 

 

Nebraska Minority Public Health Association Awards Banquet -- April 8th, 7:00 PM -- $30/per person Lancaster Room at the Cornhusker Hotel

Each year, the Nebraska Minority Public Health Association gives out three awards for leaders in the field of minority public health. The banquet program will include dinner, a keynote address, and the awards ceremony. Please join us at this year's event, to be held on April 8th, 7:00 pm, in conjunction with Nebraska's first ever combined Public Health conference. Ticket cost $30, be sure to select on the registration form.  

Keynote speaker:  Mr. Mario Drummonds, Executive Director/CEO of the Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership, Inc., a Harlem-based maternal and child health agency working to improve the health status of pregnant and parenting women in Northern Manhattan. NMPP is the grantee agency for the Central Harlem Healthy Start Program.

The NeMPHA is still accepting applications for the following 3 awards, recipients to be announced at the banquet.  

  • Mrs. Joyce Harrison Memorial - Minority Health Leadership Award, recognizing an individual who has exhibited outstanding leadership in bringing and/or improving health services for racial/ethnic minorities in the state;
  • Outstanding Minority Health Community-Based Program, recognizing a community-based program that promotes the development or effectiveness of community-oriented health care services for racial/ethnic minorities;
  • Outstanding Minority Health Service Provider, recognizing a direct service provider honored for leadership in delivering health services to racial/ethnic minorities.
