Program Description

Today's colleges, pharmacies and healthcare workplaces are staffed with a diverse spectrum of professional and para-professional practitioners. There are potentially five generational cohorts in the workforce today whose communication, teaching and learning styles are influenced by their generational experiences. This program will review the general characteristics of communication, teaching and learning styles of each cohort and give tools to help understand and manage this diversity in the experiential training environment.

1. Articulate the importance of andragogy in an adult learning context.

2. Articulate the major values and characteristics of the major generational categories.

3. Compare and contrast communication and learning between generations in the pharmacy teaching and working environments.

4. Select teaching strategies to meet the needs of different learning styles and generations.

5. Identify ways that generational mixing can enhance teaching and learning.
