This important course is for anyone who works with people in crisis. Explore the “Stress Continuum,” and the various levels of stress including eustress (i.e., beneficial, motivating stress), traumatic stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma. Individuals will examine their current stressors and learn practical ways to reduce their own stress as well as discover methods to assist and support others in crisis. Stress management self-care techniques will be presented, discussed and practiced. There will also be a discussion acknowledging the unique stressors of supporting children in crisis. This course is appropriate for all emergency services personnel, CISM team members, chaplains, nurses, teachers, and mental health professionals.
The content of these Crisis Response Training (CRT) workshops and/or presentations may include graphic or disturbing subject matter and maybe emotionally distressing to some participants. Participants are encouraged to leave the training at any point should they find the material excessively distressing. This curriculum is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be considered, or used as a substitute for, professional medical/psychological advice, diagnosis, and treatment.
**The K-LOVE/Air1 Pastoral Care members will be available to participants during the class to discuss any adverse reactions to the presentation, should this occur.
