Great Leaps Reading Fluency is a research-based program that was designed to support students struggling with decoding and fluency, the ability to read accurately, quickly and with appropriate expression and phrasing. Through 1:1 tutorial instruction, 15 minutes daily, 3-5x weekly, students reliably make remarkable fluency gains. This training is open to paraprofessionals, general and special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, or anyone who has GL materials and wants to learn how to immediately implement. There will be two sessions. In the first, you will learn how to appropriately identify students who will benefit, how to administer the placement assessments to target your instructional sequence, and how to keep track of data. In the second session, we will spend more time practicing instruction so that you can begin working with students and monitoring progress. We will NOT be able to provide materials, so please be sure to come prepared with the Reading Fluency 6-8 and 9-12 Instructor and Student materials, which are available in ShopDOE: New York City Public Schools Board of Education FAMIS approved materials.
