This class provides entry-level and experienced controls technicians with the skills necessary to install, interface and operate Carrier’s i-Vu® Open BACnet® DDC control system.


Prerequisite

*** Please note, that this is a blended learning class and you will receive access to an online program, OCT101, about two weeks before the start of the class. A computer is required and should be loaded with the Carrier Tech Tools software before class begins. Tech Tools Kit 7.0 is available for purchase from your Carrier distributor. Part Number USB-TKIT and includes Tech Software (P/N CIV-OPNTOOLS) and USB Link Kit cable (P/N USB-L). ***

Course Details

This class provides entry-level and experienced controls technicians with the skills necessary to install, interface and operate Carrier’s i-Vu® Open BACnet® DDC control system.

  • Learn basic digital control theory and the standard algorithms used to control typical HVAC systems
  • MS/TP Network configuration options and requirements
  • Open systems architecture and standard communications protocols
  • Learn their function, application, installation, and wiring within the i-Vu® Open control system.
  • Application of the i-Vu Open Tech Tools software
  • The i-Vu® user interface and selected training simulators will be used to alter set point tables and occupancy schedules and monitor algorithm performance and operation

Instructors

Russ Logalbo
Russ has over 45 years’ experience in the HVAC industry. He has worked in field operations, product management, and product development with the first DDC systems developed by Carrier up to today’s BACnet systems. He currently is involved with instructional course development, and design of technical building control and sales courses as well as service and design course on air distribution and troubleshooting. He teaches HVAC contractors on the proper design, installation, operation and configuration of building controls systems and networks using BACnet and the i-Vu® Building Automation system. He also teaches service and design course on air distribution.
