Supporting PBIS in the Classroom

This training is designed for administrators, superintendents, curriculum directors, counselors, school psychologists, school social workers and behavioral interventionists in schools that are implementing PBIS in the Classroom (CHAMPS). Participants will develop an understanding of PBIS in the Classroom and will receive tools and strategies to coach teachers in classroom management. Connections will be made between PBIS in the Classroom and the 5D+ rubric.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing to no later than seven (7) days prior to the start date of the workshop. Phone cancellations are not accepted. 'No shows' will be charged the full registration amount.

Inclement Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather, all events at the MAISD North Building will continue as scheduled unless the MAISD itself is closed. An announcement would be made through local media outlets, as well as the MAISD Facebook and the @MAISD Twitter, if the MAISD were to close due to weather.

In the event of a two-hour delay at the MAISD North Building:

  • Events beginning at 10:00 am or later will continue as scheduled.

  • Full-day events (those lasting at least five hours) scheduled to begin before 10:00 am will begin at 10:15 am.

  • Partial-day events beginning before 10:00 am will be canceled.

Exceptions to this policy will be communicated to participants via email at least 12 hours in advance of expected inclement weather.

Amy NelsonAmy Nelson was a high school teacher for thirteen years before joining the ISD as a Field Coordinator for Project BEST. As a Field Coordinator, she provides ongoing, in-district/in-building support to build assigned districts’ capacity to implement and sustain a Multi-Tiered Behavioral Framework (PBIS). Amy completed her undergraduate work and earned her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University.

Jennifer NelsonJennifer Nelson, MA, SPsyS, has worked in support of Muskegon County youth for the past ten years, initially as a School Psychologist and now within the MAISD. Currently, she is the School Climate and Culture Consultant for Project BEST. Jennifer’s work as the director of Project BEST focuses on promoting positive student behaviors, increasing school attendance and decreasing suspensions and expulsions by establishing a multi-tiered behavioral framework (PBIS) within Muskegon County schools.
