Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry Continuing Dental Education Department is now offering this new one of a kind Mastering Sedation Course Series. This Online Mastering Sedation Course Series has three different course options that will fit your needs!
Mastering Adult Minimal Sedation: Inhalation and Oral Sedation in Dentistry
OVERALL PROGRAM SYNOPSIS:
This continuum offers instruction in all aspects of adult minimal sedation to include nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation and oral sedation, as well as effective methods in dealing with anxiety control in general practice. Participants will learn various techniques and will be given a comprehensive review on current equipment, monitors and protocols.
Module 1 focuses on adult minimal oral sedation and satisfies any Board or College requirement for 7 hours of continuing education for recertification in this modality. In many cases this program also qualifies for recertification in moderate sedation.
Modules 2 and 3 are designed to achieve certification in nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalational sedation.
Combined, Modules 1, 2 and 3 satisfy the requirements for those States and Provincial Dental Boards and Colleges who require 21 hours of continuing education to certify for combined inhalation and oral sedation adult minimal sedation. Please note that if you practice in Oregon, the Oregon Board of Dentistry requires a hands-on participation section to be taken in addition to the 3 modules, in order to be considered for a minimal sedation permit.
Each of these individual Modules are specifically designed to meet the criteria, standards and guidelines of the American Dental Association, the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, the Alberta Dental Association and College, Royal College (Ontario), the Association of the Canadian Faculties of Dentistry, and many other regulatory Boards for the teaching and administration of nitrous-oxide and oral sedation. Additional adaptations are made for licensed practitioners from other States and Provinces.

*If you are a dentist practicing in Oregon, the Oregon Dental Board requires you to complete a hands-on section in addition to the completion of Modules 1, 2, & 3, in order to be considered for a Minimal Sedation permit in Oregon.
