The application cycle for our 2023 preceptorships closed on November 30, 2022.


The application cycles will open March 31, 2023 for our 2024 preceptorships.

PACE Center preceptorships are not required for dentists (U.S. and/or internationally-trained) to apply for UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry Advanced Education programs.

Acceptance into a UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry preceptorship does not guarantee acceptance into any of our Advanced Education programs. Interested individuals must apply through standard procedures.

The Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health offers a preceptorship in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). This program is classified as 'fast-tracked' and is designed to familiarize the participating graduated dentist with principles, practice, procedures and protocols of a general dental practice in the U.S.

The Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health offers a preceptorship in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). This program is classified as 'fast-tracked' and is designed to familiarize the participating graduated dentist with principles, practice, procedures and protocols of a general dental practice in the U.S.
Endodontics Non-provider Preceptorship | Six Months | January 2024 - June 2024 - 1/1/2024
The Department of Endodontics offers an Endodontic non-provider preceptorship that provides dentists a six-month didactic, clinic/laboratory and observational experience. The established curriculum involves all aspects of the educational component of the Department of Endodontics: undergraduate and graduate level courses, department seminars, interdepartmental seminars, hands-on laboratory courses, patient presentations, classic and current literature classes and guest lecture presentations.

The Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health offers a General Practice Residency (GPR) preceptorship. This program is classified as 'fast-tracked' and is designed to familiarize the participating graduated dentist with principles, practice, procedures and protocols of a general dental practice in the U.S.

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Preceptorship | Twelve Months | July 2024 - June 2025 - 7/3/2024
The Department of Diagnostic and Biomedical Sciences offers an Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (OMFP) preceptorship for dentists who have attained a significant level of OMFP training/experience at institutions outside the U.S., and are interested in pursuing a career in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology or Oral Medicine or Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
Pediatric Dentistry Preceptorship | Twelve Months | July 2023 - June 2024 - 7/3/2024
This preceptorship offers a year of additional training in the specialty area of Pediatric Dentistry. The program will enhance the preceptor's knowledge for comprehensive evaluation and treatment of infants, adolescents and children including patients with special health care needs.
Periodontics Non-Provider Preceptorship | Six Months | January 2024 - June 2024 - 1/1/2024
The Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene offers a non-provider preceptorship program in Periodontics that provides additional training in the specialty area of Periodontology and surgical implantology. This program will enhance the preceptor's knowledge necessary for comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with periodontal diseases and implant needs. This program is open to graduates of dental schools outside of the United States and Canada.

The Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics offers a Prosthodontics preceptorship for dentists to enhance their knowledge in fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics. This program is classified as 'fast-tracked' and is open to graduates of dental schools outside of the United States and Canada. =
